Election observers meet with nodal officers in Una
Una (HP): The General observers appointed by the Election Commission of India for the district Una for the 2022 General Assembly elections held a necessary meeting with the nodal officers related to the election process on Thursday.
At the meeting held in the DRDA auditorium, General Supervisor Mukesh Kumar IAS 2009 batch and Prashant Mishra IAS 2014 batch inquired about the arrangements for elections in district Una and gave necessary guidelines. They had a detailed discussion with the nodal officers about all the arrangements/arrangements being made in tthe districts for conducting fair and free and peaceful elections. They also inquired about the arrangements being made for voting for Divyangjan, the elderly, and voters above 80 years of age. He said it should be ensured to distribute 100 per cent voter slip through the returning officers and also asked them to download the C-Wizal app.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Una Raghav Sharma gave detailed information to the observers about all the necessary things done in the district for the elections. He said the participation of all would be ensured in the elections in the district.
Raghav Sharma informed observers that district Una had five assembly constituencies in which 515 polling stations have been set up, out of which 476 polling stations have been set up in rural areas and 39 polling stations in urban areas, out of which 446 are normal and 69 are sensitive. He said to date there are 4, 24,813 voters in the district which includes 2, 15,034 male voters 2, 09,777 female voters, and two transgender voters.
He said there are 112 voters in the age group above 100 years and 1665 voters in the age group of 90 plus in the district. He said special arrangements have been made for the elderly and differently-abled and voters above 80 years of age. For this process, 5 teams have been earmarked in each assembly constituency and the facility of postal ballot paper has been provided to the voters of 80 years and above and disabled voters.
Sharma said two women’s booths have been set up in each assembly constituency. In addition, two model polling stations have been set up. Raghav Sharma informed that webcasting has also been arranged on the day of polling in 272 polling stations. Apart from this, hoardings have been set up in the district to make voters aware of voting and they are also being motivated to vote through street plays.
The Returning Officer said the first phase rehearsals for the officers and employees associated with the election process in the district have been organized for Haroli, Gagret, and Una on October 23 and for Chintpurni and Kutlehar on October 26.
He said rehearsal for the second phase would be held on November four for Haroli, Gagret, and Una and on November five for Chintpurni and Kutlehar.
Raghav Sharma said vehicles were being monitored by security personnel at 25 checkpoints in the border areas in the district. (UNI)
