E Palaniswami meets Amit Shah in Delhi, says politics not discussed
Amid leadership row in AIADMK, Chennai: AIADMK Interim General Secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami today met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and termed it as a ‘courtesy call’ and that no politics was discussed.
The meeting assumes significance as it took place in the backdrop of heightened leadership tussle with expelled party leader and former CM O Panneerselvam and DVAC raids on former AIADMK Ministers by the ruling DMK.
Later, talking to reporters, he said it was a courtesy call and that no politics was discussed. He said he had sought the Centre’s intervention for two major projects introduced during his tenure. ‘It was a courtesy call. I sought the Home Minister’s intervention to
expedite the Godavari-Cauvery River linking project and ensure water for Tamil Nadu and the Nadanthai Vazhi Cauvery to restore the river on the lines of Ganga,’ Palaniswami, who was accompanied by former Ministers S P Velumani and C Ve Shanmugam, said.
‘No, we didn’t discuss politics. It was a courtesy call,’ he said, when asked whether they had discussed recent political developments in Tamil Nadu during the meeting.
He also refused to comment on the leadership crisis in the AIADMK saying the matter was sub-judice. (UNI)
