Demand in LS to increase honorarium of Anganwadi workers
New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) Demand for increasing the honorarium of Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers of the country and providing necessary facilities for them at the respective centers was raised in the Lok Sabha on Friday. Starting the further discussion on a resolution– ”Welfare measures for Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers” under the Private Members’ Business, BJP Member Ajay Misra Teni said the Anganwadi workers were given a very nominal honorarium.
The resolution was also moved by BSP Member Ritesh Pandey on March 20, 2020.
Taking part in the discussion, Mr Mishra said the role of 14 lakh Anganwadi workers was important from the point of view of health. He said the government gives an honorarium of Rs 4500 to Anganwadi workers, but they should be given at least Rs 10,000.
”Not only this, there is also a need to provide facilities of clean drinking water and furniture to the health centers, where Anganwadi workers work,” he added.
RLP member Hanuman Beniwal and BJP member Jagdambika Pal also took part in the discussion, which remained inconclusive. After the Private Members’ Business, the Zero Hour was held.
