New Delhi: A Delhi Court on Saturday granted anticipatory bail to an IAS officer of Telangana cadre in a rape case. An FIR was registered at Tilak Marg Police Station, New Delhi in 2020 against IAS officer Kalicharan Khartade, after receiving a complaint by a woman. After investigation, Police filed a charge sheet before the court without arresting the accused. The Counsel for the accused moved an anticipatory bail before the Court, submitting that the complainant was an educated lady and the case was lodged by the complainant, only to satisfy her unlawful demand for marriage. He further said the applicant has been falsely implicated in this case and not arrested during the course of the investigation and now, a charge sheet has been filed after investigation. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana noted that there was a huge delay in lodging of FIR and the accused was not arrested during the investigation. The court granted bail to the accused on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of the like amount. (UNI)
