Congress urges Governor to obtain status report on Smart City Mission, AMRUT
Panaji, Dec 21 (UNI) The Congress in Goa on Tuesday urged Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai to obtain a status report about the progress of Smart City Mission and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
”In the interest of this capital city of Goa, We request the Governor of Goa to obtain a status report about the progress of both the missions and place it before the public,” Congress leaders Joe D’souza, Shailendra Velingkar, Avertino Miranda and Elvis Gomes have said in a memorandum.
”We request the Ministry of Urban Affairs to launch an investigation into the flawed processes that are leading to complete collapse of the missions which could leave the city battered by the time the mission ends.
We request the Accountant General of Goa to carry out a special audit of IPSCDCL and prevent further attempts to embezzle public funds,” they said.
With projects being carried out without a holistic plan by different arms of the Government, the IPSCDCL was acting only as a ‘Postman’ with no accountability and responsibility about the performance by these individual departments, they said.
