Congress needs self-reflection: Hemant Patil

Pune: The country is celebrating the elixir of independence, however, the ‘Congress’ party, which played an important role in the country’s freedom struggle, has now collapsed due to lack of leadership, said social activist Hemant Patil.
Mr. Patil who is national President of India Against Corruption, expressed his opinion on Thursday that this national party needs self-reflection. Stressing that the role of the opposition party is very important in the parliamentary democratic system, Patil said that the party’s cord with common people is breaking due to lack of workers working on the ground.
Digvijay Singh, who was very active during the UPA period, is nowhere to be seen. Patil also sarcastically suggested that interim president of the party Sonia Gandhi should find out where Singh is and bring him in front of the press. Many veteran leaders of the party are upset with the party leaders. Gradually the party leaders are drifting apart. Many have slammed the party, he added.
He said that due to all this, the party has been weakened.
BJP is directly benefiting from this in many states. The BJP feels that the traditional voters of the Congress are shifting to the newly emerged party. The BJP has done a good job after coming to power in many states, he said.
Patil said that there is a picture that the rulers are moving towards the liberation of Congress. Lack of leadership in Congress, lack of political clarity, loosening of grip on the ground has paved the way for BJP to come back to power at the center in 2024, he added.
Patil said that the Congress therefore needs reforms and reconstruction within the party. (UNI)
