Chandigarh Chief Secretary Orders Power Stability
Action Team Formed, CPDL Gets Strict Instructions Amid Public Discomfort
Chandigarh In response to increasing public discomfort due to frequent power cuts, Chandigarh Chief Secretary has taken a firm stand and directed that there should be no further electricity outages in the region. Addressing the growing concerns of residents, he emphasized that reliable power supply is a basic necessity and must be ensured under all circumstances.
In a high-level meeting held on Thursday, the Chief Secretary reviewed the power situation and instructed the Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) to take immediate and effective steps. He mentioned that the current disruption in electricity is causing inconvenience to residents, especially during the ongoing hot and humid weather. In order to ensure quick resolution, a dedicated action team has been constituted to monitor, resolve, and prevent future power supply issues.
The directive comes after a series of complaints from various sectors in the city where people reported long hours of power failure, leading to disturbances in daily life and office work. Many students preparing for competitive exams and professionals working from home voiced frustration over the irregular supply.
The Chief Secretary assured that the administration is fully aware of the issue and is treating it as a top priority. “We have created a focused response team that will coordinate with all relevant departments and take real-time decisions to ensure uninterrupted power,” he said. “Citizens should not suffer due to system lapses. Accountability has been fixed, and performance will be reviewed continuously.”
Officials of CPDL have been told to improve infrastructure where needed, and emergency helplines have been strengthened to respond faster to complaints. A monitoring cell will remain active 24×7 to keep an eye on all areas of the city, and necessary manpower will be deployed accordingly.
The administration also urged citizens to report any local faults or irregularities without delay so that they can be resolved promptly. The Chief Secretary highlighted that transparency, communication, and swift action will be the three pillars of the newly launched initiative. The move has been welcomed by residents, who now hope for relief from repeated outages. Many have expressed cautious optimism and are waiting to see improvements in the coming days. This development marks a crucial step in ensuring smoother governance and responsive civic management. It also signals that public feedback is being taken seriously, and efforts are underway to turn promises into action.
