The Wadia group-owned carrier has filed a plea for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the tribunal reserved its order on Thursday.

"We regret to inform that due to operational reasons, Go First flights scheduled till 9th May have been cancelled. A full refund will be issued to the original mode of payment shortly," it said.

Since 1994, the year when private airlines took off in the country, at least 27 scheduled carriers have either been shuttered or have been acquired or merged with other carriers, according to data.

"It has come to our knowledge that the airline has applied to the NCLT. It is prudent to wait for the judicial process to run its course," the Civil Aviation Minister said.

Air India has announced plans to hire more than 1,000 pilots including captains and trainers as it seeks to expand its fleet and network.

The flights on the Munich-Bangalore route will be operational three times a week and the first flight will be on November 3. On the Frankfurt-Hyderabad route, the flights will commence in the winter.

The carmaker also announced that it will be getting a "big three-row strong hybrid model" from Toyota as part of their collaboration.
