Blood Donation camp held on Red Cross Day, in Collaboration with Vishwas Foundation and EO
Expenditure Observer, DC and SSP inaugurate the Camp and Plant a Sapling on World Red Cross Day
SAS Nagar: To commemorate World Red Cross Day which happens on the birth anniversary of its co-founder, Jean-Henri Dunant and to remember the services of Bhai Ghanayia Ji rendered towards humanity, a blood donation camp was organized by the District Red Cross Society, SAS Nagar in collaboration with the Vishwas Foundation and District Election Office.
Election Expenditure Observer 06-Anandpur Sahib, Mrs Shilpi Sinha accompanied by the DC Mrs Aashika Jain and SSP Dr Sandeep Garg, inaugurated the blood donation camp and paid floral tributes on the portraits of Jean-Henri Dunant and Bhai Ghanayia Ji. Earlier, all these dignitaries planted a sapling in the park of DAC Complex, Mohali to convey the message of a clean and green environment.
District Election Officer, Mrs Aashika Jain apprised the Expenditure Observer Mrs Sinha about the efforts made by the District SVEEP Team to make the donors aware of their one more important duty to be scheduled on June 1, 2024, as a voters. A slogan specially slated on this occasion was exhibited with the message in Punjabi; “ Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Zilhe di Vakhri Pehchan, Ajj KhoonDan, Ikk June nu Mattdan.”
Deputy Commissioner who also happens to be the President of the District Red Cross Society, SAS Nagar, said that a total of 63 units of blood were collected from the camp with the help of the District Civil Hospital blood transfusion team. She said that the District Red Cross Society has always been active in the service of mankind by organizing awareness seminars on HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse, Plantation, the Environment, conservation of water first aid etc for school students. Mohali-based Tyner Orthotics contributed to the camp by providing refreshments for the donors.
The donors were given certificates along with key rings carrying messages to vote on June 1, 2024. District Nodal Officer, SVEEP, Prof Gurbakhsish Singh Antal donated blood in the camp for the 34th time and was applauded by the Expenditure Observer and Deputy Commissioner.
Others who were present on the occasion included ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, SDM Mohali Dipankar Garg, Assistant Commissioner-cum-Honorary Secretary Red Cross Harminder Singh Hundal, Secretary District Red Cross Harbans Singh and Good Governance Fellow Vijay Lakshmi and Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar.
