BJP demands extra trains to Konkan for festivals
Thane, Jul 22 (UNI) Minister of State for Railways, Raosaheb Danve, on Thursday assured to seek details of running additional trains to Konkan for upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, according to reliable sources.
He gave this assurance when a delegation of BJP from the city, led by Thane MLA Sanjay Kelkar, met the minister and submitted a memorandum regarding the improvement measures for the district and railways in general.
The minister further assured that he would after the current session of parliament visit Thane and discuss issues related to the railways and the pending works, an official release issued from Mr Kelkar’s office stated here.
During the meeting, they also discussed the issue of running additional trains to Konkan for the Ganesh Chaturthi and Holi festivals, when large number of people from Konkan visit their native places.
They also discussed the issue of providing better catering services in the trains on Konkan railway route.
Besides these issues, the issue related to the pending work on the Konkan railway was also discussed in the meeting.
The delegation also demanded for improvement of Thane railway station.
The delegation also made a demand for the laying of fourth and fifth railway lines beyond Kalyan railway station, the release added.
