Shanta Kumar: Ban all polls in country for at least 6 months, demands former HP CM

Dharamshala, Apr 28 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar on Wednesday demanded the Central Government and the Election Commission to ban all polls in the country for at least six months in view of a second corona wave.
He further demanded that the government should pass stringent orders and permit only 15 members of two families to attend the marriages besides a ban should be imposed on holding of the religious, social and political gatherings.
In a statement issued here, Shanta Kumar expressed anguish over the large number of deaths due to Covid 19 which was taking an ugly turn in the country. He blamed both the government and people of the country for their negligence that led to the Covid 19 mess in the country.
He said that Kangra being the biggest district of the state was the worst Covid affected. He said that 50 percent of deaths in the state are recorded from Kangra district alone.
He demanded that political leaders should cancel all their tours in the national interest except in case of emergency.
Regarding the reports of Oxygen shortage and deaths in hospital, he said that the administration in a hasty way was shaken and what is required are the stringent decisions
of the government to face this current situation.
