Assam Governor arrives in Arunachal on 4-day visit

Itanagar, Dec 31:  Assam Governor Prof Jagadish Mukhi on Friday arrived in the Arunachal Pradesh capital on a four-day tour to the state, official sources said.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B.D. Mishra (Retd.), First Lady of the State Neelam Mishra, Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Nabam Rebia received Mukhi and his better half Prem Mukhi at Raj Bhavan here.
Governor Mishra, who hosted a State banquet in honour of his counterpart, expressed hope that the maiden visit of Prof. Mukhi will further cement the age-old cordial relationship between the two neighbouring states.
He said reinforcement of the goodwill amongst the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam will boost the socio-economic development in the region and also secure the territorial integrity of the nation.
Both the Governors will be visiting Kaho, the easternmost village of the frontier state, and interact with the villagers on the New Year day. They will also meet the Indian Armed Forces troops guarding the frontiers during their tour to the border area.
Earlier, the Arunachal Pradesh Police personnel presented a Guard of Honour to the Assam Governor upon his arrival at the Naharlagun Helipad, while at the Raj Bhavan here, the ITBP jawans presented the guard of honour.
