AP Minister assures, ‘No harm to be done to Shrimp hatcheries from Bulk Drug Park’

Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Roads and Buildings, Dadisetti Raja has assured the shrimp hatcheries owners that there would be no harm to the hatcheries as the government would ensure that entire effluents would be

released into the high seas by a special pipe line.
Addressing the function organized by the Kakinada chapter of All India Shrimp Hatcheries Association at Tuni town on Monday, he said the Chief Minister had assured that every care would be taken to protect the existing shrimp hatcheries and other industrial units from the pollution and all the effluents from the Bulk drug park would be released into the sea after treatment.
He said the shrimp hatcheries started in 1994 in small numbers and have now grown into a big industry with over 250 units functioning along the Tuni coast providing employment to over 25,000 people.
` The effluents outlet would be arranged 50 kms away from the bulk drug park and all the effluents after treatment would be taken through a special pipeline and released into high seas. Either the shrimp hatcheries or the other industrial units in the area would not be affected ‘he added.
