Andhra Pradesh CM directs officials to ensure no drinking water scarcity across state

Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to ensure that no part of the state faces drinking water scarcity. He instructed officials to continuously monitor rainfall conditions and reservoir levels and take timely measures to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply.

Reviewing the performance of various departments during a meeting at the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) in the Secretariat on Monday, the Chief Minister directed officials to focus on reservoir water availability and preparedness measures.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that rainfall in the upper catchment areas was expected to improve water availability in the Krishna and Godavari river basins. They also briefed him on the flood situation in the Godavari River, the release said.

Naidu directed officials to fully utilise inflows into the Krishna basin following upstream rainfall. He also instructed departments to ensure there was no shortage of fodder and maintain sufficient reserves to meet livestock needs throughout the year.

Referring to transport department initiatives, officials briefed the Chief Minister on measures being implemented, including the extensive use of technology and the removal of unnecessary regulations. They said these reforms would help reduce corruption and enable more efficient and citizen-friendly services.

Further, the CM directed officials to simplify procedures by removing unnecessary conditions to make the transport department more people-friendly.

Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad and senior officials were present at the review meeting.
