Srinagar, Dec 21: Awami National Conference (ANC) President Begum Khalida Shah on Tuesday rejected the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission and urged Prime Minister Narendera Modi to stop the process as it is against the ethnic and cultural character of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, Khalida Shah termed the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission as an “assault” on both the cultures, and urged the Prime Minister to stop this exercise as it is against the pluralistic society of Jammu & Kashmir.

She said it will damage the thousands of years old ethos, social, ethnic and cultural character of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

ANC Vice President Muzzafar Shah alleged that the final goal of New Delhi is to remove the name Kashmir from the political dictionary of the world and replace it with the UT of Srinagar.

The ANC had refused to meet the Delimitation Commission during their visit to Kashmir and had termed its existence “unconstitutional” as its formation took place after the abrogation of Article 370 & 35 A that stands challenged before the Supreme Court of India.
