Additional supply of 200 metric tonns of oxygen should be provided to Maharashtra
Aurangabad, May 4 (UNI) Maharashtra state Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte on Tuesday sent a letter to Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba and demanded additional supply of 200 metric tons of oxygen to Maharashtra and 10 ISO tankers for transporting liquid oxygen in wake of state facing second wave of Corona and as the number of patients is increasing in 16 districts of the state, oxygen is also needed for their treatment.
According to official press statement stated that Mr Kunte penned a letter to Mr Gauba in this regard on today.
He stated that due to increase number of patients the demand for oxygen is increasing in the state and the current supply from the central government should be increased to 200 metric tonns of oxygen. 10 tankers should be made available for transporting liquid oxygen to Maharashtra, he stated .
Against the backdrop of increasing number of patients, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is constantly reviewing oxygen, remedial and patient beds.
The state needs more oxygen and the Chief Minister Thackeray had given instructions to the Chief Secretary.
Accordingly, Chief Secretary Mr Kunte has sent a letter to the Union Cabinet Secretary.
At present there are 6,63,758 active patients in the state. Of these, 78,884 patients are on oxygen and 24,787 patients are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit, the statement added.
