Dhumal welcomes the step of increase in MSP of Kharif crops
Hamirpur (HP), June 10 (UNI) While hailing the decision of the central government to increase the minimum support price of Kharif crops from fifty to sixty-two percent, former HP Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Prem Kumar Dhumal said on Wednesday that this decision would double the income of the farmers of India.
In a statement on Wednesday, he said that the decision was a welcome step and taken in the larger interest of the farming community.
He said that the Modi government was continuously moving towards doubling the income of farmers.
He said that the Central Government had once again decided to increase the Minimum Support Price on Kharif crops, giving relief to the farmers as those were talking about the farmers had done nothing for them when they were ruling the country.
He said that the MSP on paddy has been increased by Rs 72. This increase is more than 50%. Along with this, the MSP on bajra has been increased by Rs 100 per quintal which was an increase of 85%. There is an increase of 62% of MSP in Tur dal. Similarly, the minimum support price for all crops such as jowar, maize, ragi, sunflower, groundnut and cotton, etc. has increased and this increase is more than 50%.
The former Chief Minister said that in the last 7 years, big decisions have been taken in favor of farmers in the country, so that the income of the farmers could increase and they could lead a happy and prosper life.
Prof Dhumal said that in the past, even when there was talk about agricultural laws, a lot of efforts were made to mislead the farmers about MSP but the decision of the Central Government to increase the MSP was a sign of farmer-friendly thinking of the BJP led NDA government at the center.
