Major relief to farmers from Modi government, subsidy on DAP increased by 140pc
Hamirpur (HP), May 21 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate affairs, Anurag Thakur announced the central government’s decision to raise the subsidy for DAP fertilizer from Rs 500 per bag.
While welcoming this decision, Thakur said that it was a historic decision and would provide a great relief given to the Annadata (Indian farmers) by the Modi government.
Thakur said, “Agriculture and farmer friendly Modi government has taken all necessary steps to ensure economic empowerment and well-being of the donor. Once again, the Modi government has given great relief to the farmers. The Modi government has increased the subsidy on it amid rising prices of DAP. Now a bag of DAP fertilizer will be available for Rs 1200 instead of Rs 2400. The Modi government has taken a historic decision to increase the subsidy for DAP fertilizer from Rs 500 per bag to Rs 1400 to Rs 1200 per bag. The amount of subsidy per sack has never been increased in the country at one time. I thank the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this important decision taken in the interest of the Annadata “.
He said, “The Modi government is committed to the welfare of farmers and will make all efforts to ensure that farmers do not suffer the ill effects of price increases. The central government spends around Rs 80,000 crore every year on subsidies on chemical fertilizers. Along with increasing the subsidy in DAP, the Government of India will spend an additional Rs 14,775 crore in the Kharif season. Last year, the actual price of DAP was Rs 1,700 per bag, with the central government subsidizing Rs 500 per bag, so companies were selling fertilizer to farmers at Rs 1200 per bag. Thus, despite the increase in the international market prices of DAP, it has been decided to sell it at the old price of Rs 1200 only, which is going to bear the entire burden of price rise. ”
He claimed that no government has been able to take as many steps as Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has done in the interests of farmers in the last 70 years. Recently Modi ji has made the eighth instalment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi without any discrimination. An amount of more than Rs 19,000 crore has been released for 9.5 crore beneficiary farmer families.
Under this scheme, every year an amount of Rupees Two thousand are sent to the farmers’ account in three instalments. In this way farmers in three instalments worth 6,000 rupees were sent to the accounts of the government, which our Annadatas are able to use for agricultural purposes.
Thakur said, “The Modi government is working with a resolve to double farmers’ income by 2022. This is the biggest scheme for the farmers so far which is proving to be a boon for the Annadata. Around 11 crore farmers have been given assistance of about 1 lakh 35 thousand crore rupees under this scheme all over the country. Out of which more than 60 thousand crore rupees have been reached only during the Corona period.”
