Atishi identifies anomalies in twelve DU colleges
The minister suggests that these colleges receive central funding or be renamed Ambedkar University.
NEW DELHI: On Friday, Delhi Education Minister Atishi wrote to the Union Education Minister, pointing out inconsistencies in 12 institutions that are currently receiving funding from the Delhi government and are associated with Delhi University.”Over the past few years, the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi’s Directorate of Audit has observed a number of significant anomalies and procedural errors involving millions of rupees from the public coffers,” Atishi said at a Friday briefing.
“Colleges have created posts and engaged teaching and non-teaching staff without the approval of their administration department and the finance department of the Government of NCT Delhi,” Atishi wrote in a letter, citing examples of the irregularities.Second, people who were never appointed through the proper channels are receiving wages totaling several crores of rupees, the letter claimed.
Unauthorized use of GIA finances, including the GIA-General’s salary, arbitrary and irregular payments for security and sanitation services, and the distribution of canteen and other contractual services are among the various anomalies mentioned.The letter stated, “Many of these colleges have not taken any initiative to pay the salaries or other dues of their staff in a timely manner, despite having crores of funds lying in their corpus.”
