new responsibilities to its 42 sitting MLAs. This strategic reshuffle comes in the wake of recent electoral setbacks and is part of the party’s internal effort to strengthen its ground-level presence ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has called for a crucial meeting of the BJP legislative party, where these decisions will be discussed in detail. The meeting is expected to take place in Chandigarh this week, with all MLAs directed to attend. Senior party leaders and strategists are also expected to be present, as the meeting will not only focus on restructuring roles but will also involve a detailed review of the party’s performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP faced notable losses in Haryana.
According to insiders, the BJP leadership wants to ensure that each MLA is actively involved in party-building activities and constituency-level engagement. This is especially important as the party looks to recover lost ground and reconnect with its voter base. “There is an understanding within the party that we need to move quickly and effectively. The Assembly polls are not far off, and we cannot afford to repeat our past mistakes,” said a senior BJP leader on condition of anonymity.
Many within the party believe that complacency and a lack of connection with grassroots issues may have contributed to recent losses. Assigning clear, specific responsibilities to MLAs—such as district coordination, booth-level oversight, and campaign management—is seen as a way to re-energize the cadre and bring more accountability within the ranks.

Having taken over the reins of the state only recently, Saini is under pressure to show he can deliver results both in governance and electoral performance. The BJP currently holds 42 seats in the 90-member Haryana Assembly, and while it still remains the largest party in the state, its dominance has been tested recently.
