AHMEDABAD: On Sunday, a fire broke out in the basement of a 10-story hospital in the Gujarati city of Ahmedabad, prompting the evacuation of about 125 patients as a precaution.

Inspector M. D. Champavat of the Sahibaug police station said there had been no reports of any casualties up to this point.

According to a fire official, the facility was undergoing renovations when various objects housed in the basement caught fire and produced a lot of smoke.

According to early reports, the fire started at around 4.30 am in the basement of Rajasthan Hospital, which is situated in the city’s Sahibaug district, said Champavat.

Teams of firefighters are battling the blaze.The hospital’s basement, where the fire started, is still emitting smoke, he said.

As a precaution, about 125 individuals have been transferred to various hospitals, according to the police inspector.A benevolent trust manages the hospital.

According to deputy chief fire officer Jayesh Khadia, the fire broke out in the second basement of the 10-story Rajasthan Hospital. The plea for help came in at around 4.30 am.
