NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated a statue of B R Ambedkar on the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) campus on Saturday, calling the legendary lawyer a “visionary leader” and a crucial Constitution-maker.
Birla called the Dalit icon statue installation historic. He complimented IGNOU for giving students who can’t attend college hope.Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s visionary leadership helped write the nation’s constitution.
Birla stated Babasaheb’s ideas of equality and fairness, which reinforce Indian democracy, guide Indian governance and several Constitutions worldwide.
He said Ambedkar supported the disadvantaged and their education even though the country faced huge hurdles during Independence. India was economically, socially, and illiterate.
Babasaheb emphasised education and social justice’s relevance in people’s lives, correctly assessing their importance for the fledgling democracy’s advancement.
