Encounter between Punjab Police and robbers, one shot, other arrested

Bathinda: One person was shot in the leg while the other was arrested in police retaliatory firing with robbers who were fleeing after looting a petrol pump on Talwandi Rama Road. Unidentified youths riding a car carried out the robbery at a petrol pump in Rama Mandi on Monday morning.

Four unknown persons in the car reached Surjeet Petrol Pump located on Talwandi Sabo-Raman Road on the pretext of filling petrol in the car. During this time, the said youth threatened the pump employees and looted cash worth about Rs 80 thousand from them. After committing the incident the robbers fled from the spot. After this, the employees present at the pump informed the police.

Police teams blocked the entire area, in which two associates of the said robbers were seen coming on a motorcycle near Bhagibadar, then the police signaled them to stop but the accused people started firing at the police team with 315 bore revolvers. . The police responded by opening fire, one of which hit the accused while the other one fell from the motorcycle.

After this the police arrested both of them on the spot. The injured has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The accused who was injured by the bullet has been identified as Rajwinder Singh while the other accused Iqbal Singh has been arrested by the police. The police is also conducting raids in search of other accused involved in this incident.
