1675 – Christian Huygens patents pocket watch. (They were the most common type of watch from their development in the 16th century until wristwatches became popular after World War I during which a transitional design, trench watches, were used by the military).
1911 – First public elevator (London’s Earl’s Court Metro Station).
1977 – Former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi was released unconditionally by a judicial magistrate, after 
spending 16 hours in police custody for charges of political corruption. This marked the beginning of the road that would take her back to the prime minister’s chair.
