1644 – Louis XIV of France inaugurated the Palace of Versailles.
1660 – Isaack B Fubine of Savoy, in The Hague, patents macaroni. Macaroni is a variety of dry pasta in the shape of narrow tubes. If cut in lengths with a curve it is usually called elbow macaroni. The name comes from Italian maccheroni, plural form of maccherone. The academic consensus supports that the word is derived from the Joseph WintersGreek makaria, a kind of barley broth which was served to commemorate the dead.

1878 – Joseph.R. Winters, US, received a patent for a fire escape ladder(Pic credit-Chambersburg Public Opinion). .

1907 – The First Electric Tramway service commenced in Bombay. This service was inaugurated by Municipality Chairman Vallabhdas Thakersey and Municipal Commissioner Sheppard at 5.30 p.m. This tram was well decorated and destined from Municipal Office up to Crawford Market.

1952 – The concept of the integrated circuit chip was first presented, at a Symposium on Progress in Quality Electronic Components in Washington DC., by radar scientist Geoffrey W.A. Dummer.

1954 – Indo-China War: The Battle of Dien Bien Phu ends in a French defeat and a Vietnamese victory (the battle TramWaybegan on March 13).

1998 – Mercedes-Benz buys Chrysler for US$ 40 billion USD and forms Daimler Chrysler in the largest industrial merger in history.

2014 – Russian president Vladimir Putin bans cursing in creative works and media outlets, with fines on individuals and companies for using bad language; the stated purpose of the law is to protect Russian language and culture.

2017 – Film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion , with a total domestic gross of ₹1,429.83 broke a number of domestic records. Dangal (2016), which is the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide,[6] was the previous highest-grossing domestic film, with a domestic gross of ₹538.03 crore.

2022 – Afghan women issued decree to cover their faces in public (hijab reaching head to toe) by Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, or her male guardian faces criminal punishment.Putin


1711 – David Hume, Scottish philosopher, author, historian, economist, lawyer and judge. Wrote books on Criminal law,  Also wrote thesis on human history and philosophy.

David Hume1861 – Guru Dev Rabindranath Thakur alias Tagore, novelist, painter, educationist and freedom fighter; Won Nobel Prize for his epic collection of poems  Gitanjali Ghare, in 1913. Other works are Baire Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata Gora Jana Gana Mana Rabindra Sangeet Amar Shonar Bangla  etc.


2001 – Prem Dhawan, well-known story-writer, lyricist, music composer and cherographer. Famous songs for Vanraj BhatiaShaheed, Pavitra Papi, Goonj Uthi Shehnai, Nanak Dukhiya Sab Sansar, Dhanna Bhagat Jeet etc.
