19 persons died in rain-related incidents in Himachal in 24 hrs
Kangra/Shimla: Total 19 persons died while nine others injured and 6 went missing in various rain-related mishaps in Mandi, Chamba and Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Saturday.
The state government spokesperson also said that 11 cattle died as five cowshed and 12 houses were damaged following the rain.
Seven roads were blocked due to landslide while six vehicles were also damaged and one bridge was washed away on Chaki River in Kangra district.
In village Kashan of subdivision of Gohar of Mandi district, a landslide hit the house of Gram Panchayat Pradhan while eight persons died after two houses collapsed. The district administration and NDRF team were rushed to the spot.
At Bagi in Mandi district near Parash road five Kachha ‘ houses were swept away in the flooded water triggered by cloud burst. Three died in Village Banet, Muhal Chudana Tehsil Bhattiyat District Chamba after a house was collapsed. Rescued immediate relief (Rs. 30,000/-) was provided to the family of the victims. The deceased was identified as Chaamaru S/o Sh. Dharmu, Ajay and Meena Devi. In Village Gaggal Khas of Kangra district, one died as entire village was flooded due to heavy rainfall.
A Vehicle bearing UP number hit by a boulder at Mahipal near Sainj under Theog subdivision in District Shimla. Four persons travelling in car who belonged to UP. Two persons died on the spot and two injured were taken to civil hospital.
In Shimla district, landslide hit HP Petrol pump at Theog in which four vehicles were damaged.
A total of 500 people were evacuated to safer place in Halerd village of Jaisinghpur Tehsil of Kangra district as entire village Village was flooded.
Orange and Yellow alert were issued by the Indian meteorological department for the next three days in the state. (UNI)
