Dr. Kakodkar: Importance of atomic energy increasing day-by-day

 Aurangabad: Renowned scientist and Member of Atomic Energy Commission of India, Dr Anil Kakodkar on Sunday said the importance of atomic energy in India is increasing day by day.
Therefore, the availability of nuclear energy should increase by more than 100 to 200 times.
Dr Kakodkar was in the city to attend the the first convocation of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial University (MGMU) as chief guest.
After attending the convocation while talking to media persons, Dr Kakodkar said,” we have to achieve this by the year 2070, so it is not impossible. This type of work happened in many countries. But things are slow in our country. There is no point in importing reactors at any cost. In indigenous reactor, the cost of production becomes half. We have created such a system. Therefore, moving forward on indigenous technology, the next step should be expedited.”
Talking about Jaitapur project he said, ” Land acquisition has been done for the project. The day the cost of this project will be done. This project will be completed on that day, he added. (UNI)
