Goa BJP leader questions CM on allotment of Rs 50 cr without tendering process

Panaji: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Savio Rodrigues has asked Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant explain to the people the reason behind the Arts and Culture Minister Govind Gaude allotting Rs 50 crore work for the renovation of the Kala Academy to a company without a tendering process.
In a video released on social media, Rodrigues said, “Prime Minister Modi is working to stem the rot of systemic corruption in the country. However, a Goa minister allots work to a company for the rrenovation of the Kala Academy worth Rs 50 crore without a tendering process. When the minister is questioned by the media, he retorts stating Shah Jahan did not need a tendering process to build the Taj Mahal. He also told the media that it was a government decision.”
Rodrigues questioned, “whether we are living in the times of Shah Jahan who ruled by force or are we living in a democratic country where there is legal process put by the Indian government to curb corrupt practices.”
“We do not need to walk this path,” Rodrigues appealed to the Goa CM. “The Arts and Culture Minister Govind Gaude told media that it was the government’s decision to opt for a nomination process and not the tendering process,” he pointed out.
Directorate of Vigilance has already raised serious questions over the allegations in the renovation work of the Kala Academy and asked the government to constitute a three-member committee to investigate the allegations. (UNI)
