RINL-VSP achieves 5.85 Mt Liquid Steel Production in 2021: CMD Atul Bhatt

Visakhapatnam, Jan 1 (UNI) Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), has achieved Liquid Steel production of 5.85 Mt with an average of 109 heats per day in the Calendar Year 2021, said Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL, here on Saturday.
Addressing a small gathering of Directors, CGMs, trade union leaders and representatives of SEA, WIPS, SC & ST association and OBC association here on the occasion of New Year 2022, Bhatt said the plant utilized 94 per cent of 6.3 Mtpa Liquid Steel capacities.
The year also saw RINL achieving another milestone in its efforts towards maintaining a leadership position in Energy conservation, he said commissioning activities at the Forged Wheel Plant in Uttar Pradesh, completed and the first batch of wheels were handed over to Railways.
We have achieved a Sales Volume of 3.73 Mt against the production of 3.88 Mt. with a Sales turnover of Rs. 19,370 crores showing a growth of 69 percent,. he said.
He appreciated RINL collective for bringing laurels to the company by winning national and international awards.
While emphasizing on the need to unleash the full potential of the RINL collective, he said that we need to work even harder to sustain our position in the market.
We should focus on this quarter and try to achieve the best quarter figures in all areas, he added.
“2022 would be a very promising year for RINL” Bhatt while delivering a message on New Year, said “January – March quarter was the best quarter in the history of RINL with respect to production and sales.
We lost many of our colleagues during the dreaded second wave of pandemic, he said and thanked all the COVID warriors, health workers and front line workers for showing their solidarity during this difficult period.
He expressed happiness that all the employees and contract workers have been vaccinated and saved a few who have health issues.
Prior to his speech, a unique green initiatives project taken up by RINL-VSP promoting and practicing environmental protection measures and also in line with the celebrations of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was launched by Bhatt.
He also released an annual newsletter ‘Ukkuvani’ the trilingual in-house magazine of RINL covering the prominent events and happenings during the year 2021.
Later, Bhatt along with AK Saxena, D(O) visited major units in the plant and extended New Year greetings to the employees and witnessed Performance presentations.
