Mumbai : The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed on March 31, 2025, due to the Eid-ul-Fitr festival. According to the official stock market holiday calendar, no trading activities will take place on this day in the equity, derivatives, and other segments. Investors should note that the Indian stock market will also remain closed on March 28 and 29 due to the weekend.
The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also observe a trading halt on March 31 during the morning session, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, trading will resume in the evening session from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Investors dealing in commodities should plan their trades accordingly.
Apart from this, the Indian stock market observed another major holiday on March 14 due to the Holi festival. With the upcoming closure on March 31 for Eid, March has witnessed two official trading holidays apart from the regular weekend breaks. The next set of market closures includes Mahavir Jayanti on April 10, Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, and Good Friday on April 18.
Market participants are advised to check the trading schedules and plan their investments accordingly. With long weekends and multiple holidays in the upcoming months, investors should ensure timely execution of their trades to avoid last-minute inconveniences. The closure of financial markets on festive occasions highlights the cultural significance of these events while also providing traders and investors a much-needed break from daily market fluctuations.
