Virat Kohli-Shreyas Iyer demolish Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif dreams in Dubai
Dubai: India’s fierce and swashbuckling batsman Virat Kohli and middle order batter Shreyas Aiyer paired perfectly to demolish Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif’s dream call to defeat India at ICC World Cup 2025 currently on at Dubai.
Given a tough target of 242 runs on Dubai International stadium’s deadly and slow pitch for ODI format, Kohli played very meticulously and built-up his innings of 100 (not out) runs scored in 111 balls, with a calm but calculated style, hitting 7 fours in his 51st entury. Kohli broke a record in his persuit, scoring 14,000 runs in 287 ODI innings and overtaking legendary Sachin Tendulklar’s record (14,000 in 350 innings) as also reaching closer to Sri Lanka batter Kumar Sangakkara’s record of 14,234 run
s in 378 ODIs.
Shreyas Aiyer scored 56 with a huge six and played a valuable innings to defeat Pak dream of taking a semi-final bearth.
In their efforts the Indian pair of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer demolished the much hyped call of Pakistan PM Shehbaz Shariff’s and dream for beating India in this Dubai encounter today. Pak PM is reported in the social media to have exhorted Pakistan cricket team to beat India in this crucial match, where India would reach semi-final bearth but a victory could have given Pakistan a chance to move ahead in the ICC Championship tournament. It would have been very difficult for India to reach the Semi-final stage had it lost to Pakistan.
Earlier Indian bowlers Kuldeep Yadav (3-40), Hardik Pandya (2-41), Rana, Jadeja and Axar Patel one each, kept Pak batsmen scurring for runs, bundled out for 241. ———-(more to follow)
