Dubai: India’s  fierce and swashbuckling  batsman Virat Kohli  and  middle order batter Shreyas Aiyer  paired   perfectly to demolish Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif’s dream call  to defeat India at ICC World Cup 2025  currently on at Dubai.

Given a  tough   target of 242  runs  on Dubai  International stadium’s  deadly  and  slow pitch for  ODI format,  Kohli played very meticulously and built-up his innings of  100 (not out) runs  scored in 111 balls,   with a   calm  but calculated  style, hitting 7  fours in his  51st entury.  Kohli broke a record  in his persuit, scoring 14,000 runs in 287  ODI innings and  overtaking  legendary  Sachin Tendulklar’s  record (14,000 in 350 innings) as also reaching closer to Sri Lanka batter Kumar Sangakkara’s record  of  14,234 runs in 378 ODIs.

Shreyas Aiyer scored 56 with a huge  six and  played a valuable innings to defeat Pak dream of taking  a semi-final bearth.

In their efforts the  Indian pair  of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer  demolished the  much hyped  call of Pakistan PM Shehbaz Shariff’s and  dream for  beating India  in this Dubai encounter  today.  Pak PM is reported in the social media to have  exhorted  Pakistan cricket team to beat India in this crucial match, where India would reach semi-final bearth  but a  victory could have given Pakistan a chance to  move ahead in the ICC Championship tournament.  It would have been very difficult for India to reach the Semi-final  stage had it  lost to Pakistan.

Earlier Indian bowlers  Kuldeep Yadav (3-40), Hardik Pandya (2-41),  Rana, Jadeja and Axar Patel  one each, kept Pak batsmen  scurring for runs, bundled out for 241.                                                                 ———-(more to follow)
