Upper Himachal shivers sans power supply and heavy snowfall
132 roads have been cut off in Rohru, Jubbal, Kotkhai and Chopal regions due to snowfall and haze.
Shimla: Most parts of Himachal Pradesh in upper regions were reeling under power cuts and chilly weather Monday, caused by snowfall and storms. People shivered without power and road connectivity as windstorm and heavy snowfall disrupted normal life in the state.
The state disaster Management authority spokesperson said, as many as 2223 distribution Transformer Regions are groping without power in the bone-chilling cold wave forcing People to remain indoors and sit by fireplaces.
Shimla district which recorded moderate snowfall after five hours of windstorm on Sunday night and Monday morning as a large number of DTRs were non-functional. Similar are the scenes in other districts.
In all 481 roads and three National Highway are cut off, as vehicular traffic came to a standstill. Road communication of Rohru, Jubbal Kotkhai and Chopal have also been hampered due to snowfall. 112 roads are blocked in Rohru and 20 in Chopal Subdivision.
Local people and tourists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel in case of snowfall. (UNI)
