Caste and regional balance prime focus for BJP in UP cabinet expansion & MLCs recommendation

Lucknow, Sep 26 (UNI) The ruling BJP has tried to focus on caste and regional balance in the minor expansion of the Yogi Adityanath’s four and a half year government in Uttar Pradesh.
With the inclusion of 7 new faces in the government on Sunday, the BJP has tried to woo the Dalits and OBCs in particular getting the lion share and Brahmin got one plump post.
Similarly, UP government also recommended 4 names for the legislative council where Jitin Prasad, who was made the cabinet minister, was accommodated along with three others from the OBC community.
The other recommended for MLCs are Choudhury Virendra Singh Gujjar, Gopal Anjan (Bhurji) and Sanjay Nishad.
The new ministers inducted in the Yogi ministry, Former Congress leader Jitin Prasada, who gets cabinet berth is the prominent face.
Jitin Prasad, had recently left Congress and came to BJP. Former Union Minister and was a big leader of UP Congress. Before this, he has been a MP twice, has been a minister of state in the central government in UPA one and two.
He was MP for the first time from Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha seat in 2004. In 2008, he was made the Union Minister of State for Steel.
After delimitation in 2009, Jitin fought from Dhaurhara and became MP for the second time. He was the Minister of State in the Department of Road Transport, Petroleum and Human Resources in UPA- 2. In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he lost from Dhaurahra. In the 2017 assembly elections, he lost from the Tilhar assembly seat of Shahjahanpur. His father Jitendra Prasad was also the MP of Shahjahanpur for 4 times.
He has been the political advisor to Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao. Jitendra Prasada was the President of the UP Congress and the Vice President of the Indian National Congress. Jitendra Prasad contested the election of Congress President against Sonia Gandhi in 2000.
New Minister of state Sangeeta Balwant Bind, is first time MLA from Sadar seat of Ghazipur district. She comes from Bind community under Backward caste. She came into active politics from student and panchayat politics. Sangeeta is a youth leader and is about 42 years old.

Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanjay Singh Gond is a BJP MLA from Obra seat of Sonbhadra district. He comes from Scheduled Tribe community. Has been elected MLA for the first time and is a young leader of BJP and is about 46 years old.

Mr Dharamveer Prajapati is a member of the Legislative Council. He became a member of the Legislative Council in January 2021. He is from western UP and come from OBC society. Presently he is the chairman of Mati Kala Board. He has held many important positions in the state BJP.

Mr Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar, who has been made minister of state , is an MLA from the Baheri assembly seat of Bareilly district. He was elected MLA for the second time in 2017. He is from Kurmi community ubder OBC. He is a senior BJP leader and is about 65 years old. Has been in RSS since 1980, has been an RSS pracharak.
Mr Dinesh Khatik , 44 years, belongs to dalit community and is MLA from Hastinagar assembly segement in Meerut in Western UP. He also belongs to RSS cadre.

Mr Paltu Ram is a dalit and first time MLA from Balrampur seat. The first time MLA had contested the 2007 from BSP from Mankapur assembly seat but lost. Thereafter he joined the BJP and contested the 2017 elections.
