Unrecognized madrasa survey team visits Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama
Lucknow: As a part of the ongoing survey of the unrecognized madrasas in Uttar Pradesh, a team of UP Madrasa Education Board and the district administration inspected an Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow on Thursday.
Official sources said that the survey team collected information as per a 12-point proforma and inspected various places in the seminary. “The survey officials inquired into the name of the organization running the seminary, courses being offered and the facilities being extended to the students,” they said.
The team also inspected the library, which houses more than 2.5 lakh publications, and expressed their satisfaction. It may be noted that after Darul Uloom Deoband, in Saharanpur district Nadwa is considered as the biggest seminary in north India.
For the first time the state government has issued orders to conduct the survey of unrecognized madrasas in the state, a move which has been opposed not only by the opposition parties, but the All India Muslim Personal Law Board as well.
Nadwa spokesman Maulana Kamal Akhtar Nadwi said that a team of officers from different departments carried out the survey of the institution. He said that the team sought information on specific points which was provided.
He said that the team inquired about the syllabus and the source of income and they were told that though Nadwa focuses on religious education, the curriculum of NCERT is also taught. He said that the team was informed that the institution runs on public funding. (UNI) (pics credit-FourSquare and Facebook)
