Chandigarh : A wave of shock and concern swept through Chandigarh on June 10, 2025, when an unidentified body of a young man was discovered in a parking area near Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector-32. The lifeless body was spotted by a passerby in the morning hours, who immediately informed the local police station. Upon arrival, the police cordoned off the area and began initial forensic procedures.

The identity of the deceased is still unknown, and no identification documents were found on the body. As a result, Chandigarh Police have begun efforts to trace the man’s identity and are appealing to the public for any information that might help locate his family. The body, estimated to be that of a man in his 20s or early 30s, showed no immediate signs of injury or violence, but the police have not ruled out foul play.

The body was sent to the GMCH mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary assessments by the medical team suggest that the death might have occurred several hours before the body was found. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the nearby areas and questioning locals, shopkeepers, and hospital staff for any leads.

Authorities are treating the matter with seriousness given its proximity to a busy public place like GMCH. The incident has raised concerns about safety in public and hospital areas, especially at night. While no missing person’s report matching the man’s description has been filed so far, police are checking records from nearby districts and states.

Photographs and basic details of the deceased have been circulated to various police departments, local NGOs, and shared on social media platforms in hopes of identifying him. Police have urged anyone who might recognize the man or have seen suspicious activity in the area recently to come forward.

The discovery has caused unease among the residents and hospital visitors. Officials from the administration have assured the public that necessary steps will be taken to enhance patrolling and surveillance in the area. Meanwhile, the case remains under investigation, and updates will follow as authorities make progress.
