Kyiv : Tensions between Russia and Ukraine intensified yet again as Ukraine claimed responsibility for a targeted strike on a Russian airbase. In retaliation, Russia launched a massive wave of drone attacks on Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv. According to reports, over 300 drones were used in a coordinated offensive by Russian forces.

Friday night turned deadly in Kyiv as the city came under heavy bombardment. Loud explosions rocked the city as drones and missiles hit multiple targets, triggering air raid sirens and widespread panic among residents. Ukrainian authorities confirmed that at least one person lost their life and 26 others were injured in the assault, many of them seriously.

The Ukrainian military claimed that its strike on the Russian airbase caused significant damage to equipment and infrastructure, though Russia has yet to confirm the extent of the damage. However, Moscow responded swiftly and aggressively, deploying hundreds of drones in what analysts are calling one of the largest drone-based attacks since the start of the war.

Emergency services in Kyiv worked through the night to extinguish fires and rescue civilians trapped in damaged buildings. Hospitals reported a surge in admissions, and power outages were reported in several neighborhoods due to the destruction of critical infrastructure.

International leaders have expressed concern over the rising scale and frequency of attacks in the region. Calls for de-escalation continue, but both sides remain defiant. Ukraine insists it is defending its sovereignty, while Russia claims its response is justified in the face of “continued provocation.”

Despite multiple rounds of international sanctions, ceasefire talks, and military aid from Western allies, the war shows no signs of slowing. With drone warfare becoming an increasingly dominant tool, both sides are adapting rapidly to new forms of combat, often at the cost of civilian lives.

As Kyiv braces for potential further attacks, the Ukrainian government is urging citizens to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to safety protocols. Meanwhile, the global community watches with growing concern, hoping for diplomatic efforts to prevail before the conflict escalates even further.
