NEW DELHI: According to Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday, the two stores’ sales had outperformed the company’s early projections.

In the company’s earnings call, Cook said that the company’s June quarter revenue set a national record and increased by double digits. “During the quarter, we also opened our first two retail outlets. Although it is still early, they are now above our expectations in terms of their performance. We continue to invest more in our direct-to-consumer offers while also working to expand the channel, according to Cook.

The US IT juggernaut set up shop in Mumbai and Delhi in April 2023. In India, Apple’s market share has been increasing recently. In Q2 2023, according to CyberMedia Research’s most recent study, Apple had barely 5% of the smartphone market, despite a huge year-over-year rise of 62% in its shipments. However, the corporation also has a significant 25% market share in the Premium segment (Rs 25,000).

Cook referred to the Indian market as the second-largest smartphone market in the world, and he claimed that Apple should be succeeding greatly in this area. “And while I’m really happy with our growth there, we still have a very, very small and low share in the smartphone market,” the company’s CEO said. Therefore, I believe it to be a tremendous opportunity for us. And we’re putting our entire effort into making it happen,” continued Cook. Apple is also boosting its production capabilities in India. In FY23, its exports nearly quadrupled to reach $5 billion.
