Chandigarh: In a breakthrough in the recent Ramdarbar firing incident, Chandigarh Police have arrested two key suspects involved in the case. The duo was apprehended with a country made pistol, a revolver, and five live cartridges, pointing toward a planned attack linked to personal enmity.
According to police officials, the firing took place near Ramdarbar Colony, where Monty, a local youth, allegedly had a long standing rivalry with one of the accused. The attack targeted Samdarsh’s car, which was parked near the site. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the firing was a personal dispute, possibly involving past altercations or territorial issues between the two groups. The arrested individuals are being interrogated further to uncover their criminal backgrounds and possible connections to larger networks.
A senior officer from the Chandigarh Crime Branch said, We received a tip off about their movements and set up surveillance in the area. Both accused were arrested without any resistance, and the weapons recovered indicate that they were prepared for further acts of violence. Police have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests in connection with the case. CCTV footage from the area and forensic examination of the seized weapons are underway. The administration has also assured increased patrolling in the Ramdarbar area to ensure public safety.
Local residents have expressed concern over the incident, highlighting how such violent acts are becoming more frequent. This is a residential area with families and children. We expect better security from the police, said a shopkeeper near the scene. The Chandigarh Police are appealing to the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity, assuring that strict action will be taken against those disturbing the peace.
