Washington D.C. : Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday took to social media to strongly refute claims that he allegedly supported giving $30 billion to Iran for the development of non-military nuclear facilities. In a fiery post on his Truth Social account, Trump called the news “a disgusting lie” and lashed out at the media for spreading false information.

Trump wrote, “Who is the lowlife in the fake news media saying I want to give Iran $30 billion to build non-military nuclear facilities? I’ve never even heard of such nonsense.”

The comments came after a controversial article circulated online claiming that a secret deal was being considered by Trump’s associates to offer Iran funding in exchange for nuclear transparency and limited international oversight. The post quickly gained traction on social media, sparking outrage from conservatives and pro-Israel groups who have long opposed any form of negotiation or concession toward Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, were flooded with reactions criticizing the alleged deal. Many users accused Trump’s critics of spreading fabricated stories to tarnish his image ahead of the 2024 election cycle. Supporters of Trump defended him, reiterating his strong stance against Iran during his presidency, including pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal in 2018.

Meanwhile, Trump campaign spokespersons also released a statement denying any such plans or discussions ever took place. “President Trump has never supported giving a penny to Iran. He was the one who ended Obama’s disastrous deal,” the statement read.

Iranian officials have not responded to the media reports, and the U.S. State Department also declined to comment on the matter.

Political analysts believe the timing of the news story is critical, as it comes amid Trump’s growing popularity in Republican primaries. Experts suggest that misinformation or politically motivated leaks could be part of an ongoing attempt to derail his campaign momentum.

This controversy adds to the already heated political atmosphere in the U.S., where discussions around foreign policy, national security, and nuclear agreements continue to polarize public opinion.
