Trump-Putin walk towards Peace; Ceasefire far ahead!
President Putin gains “Nyat-NATO Assurance’; invites President Trump to Moscow for further parleys
Alaska (United States): The much awaited meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin ended in just 3 hours, with visibly amicable and ice-breaking sentiment but without any indication of early cease-fire on Ukraine-Russia War Front. The two leaders addressed the media for a short 12 minute briefing on the intent of peace from each side but nothing concrete towards Peace.
The two heads of historical global rivals, the United States and the USSR, comprising of Bipolar World for 50 years and beyond, met in the American state of Alaska early in the morning (IST), discussed over possibilities of bringing ceasefire to 3 year old Russia-Ukraine war which has killed over 3.5 lakh soldiers from both the warring nations and almost equal number of civilian casualties. Many of Ukrainian cities were converted to heaps of rubble and dust by Russian missiles, powerful explosives and about 20% of former’s territory captured by Russian forces, inspite of loads of American and NATO ammunition supplies.
Sources have emphasised that United States has spent over $ 500 billion in the war comprising of arms, ammunition, fighters and is anxious to recover (the loan), whereas NATO countries must have put $300-400 billion to fire during the three year period, neither granting Ukraine NATO membership nor getting any reprieve from Russian tyrany.
Although Prez Trump has been able to bring Prez Vladimir Putin to the discussion table by his pressure tactis and hyperbole; targetting not only Russia, but its allies and well-wishers (read India and some EU nations), Vladimir Putin stayed calm and tactical all these six months of Prez Trump’s second term. Donald Trump had been very vocal and committed over bringing Peace to the World by stopping Russia -Ukraine, Israel-Palestine-Iran wars during his campaign for Presidency last year and afterwards.
It is obvious, Russian President has got an assurance from Prez. Trump over NATO membership to Ukraine (abeyance), retaining major regions of occupied territories and defreeze of its $300 billion funds, blocked through sanctions. Ukraine on the other side, has been asked by Donald Trump to sit with the Russian negotiators and strike a peace deal (sic). As this Alaska bonhomie was an uneaqual representation viz-a-viz Ukraine (had no representative) whereas Russia was represented by its Chief Commander of the attacking forces, thus having gained sufficient assurances.
As Ukrainian President Volodamir Zelensky is very much apprehensive on the Alaska meet, sans his presence, he is gathhering support from France, Germany and other European -NATO members. Next meeting between the two top leaders (may by Zelensky is also included), is expected to be held in Moscow, in more than a month. Let us hope Russia-Ukraine-NATO membership tangle is resolved by the end of 2025 ! —Editor
