1824 -Washing machine patented by Noah Cushing of Quebec City, Canada.
1869 – Ives W. McGaffney of Chicago obtained the first American patent for a “sweeping machine”. This first suction-type vacuum cleaner was a light hand-powered device for surface cleaning (pic credit-ifunny.co).
1896 – First car theft reported: Baron de Zuylen’s Peugeot is stolen by a mechanic in Paris.
1913 – Journalist, revolutionary and political thinker Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi started a newspaper named “Pratap.” in Kanpur. It
became a voice for the common people and was widely read. His work in journalism helped awaken the people of India during British rule. He translated Victor Hugo’s novel Ninety-three and wrote articles against British rule in India. He joined Mahatma Gandhi’s Non-Cooperation Movement and joined Indian Congress. He was involved in anti-British rule agitations and activities alongwith Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh and others. Although he was a secular leader, he was attacked by some Muslim mob in Kanpur and assasinated on March 25, 1931, in disguise. He body was found mutilated many days later.

1948 – ‘Malabar Princess’, Air India’s first international flight, takes off from Bombay to London via Cairo and Geneva with IRD Tata as Pilot Captain. This was weekly air service started between India and United Kingdom. The Maharaja muscot is very popular among global air fliers. .

1999 – ATP announced Paes-Bhupathi as No. 1 ranked doubles team. In individual doubles ranking, Bhupathi and Paes were No. 1 and 2 respectively.
2000 – Bomb blasts rock churches in three states (A.P., Karnataka, and Goa).
2009 – India’s Chandrayaan-1 made an important discovery about water molecules on the Moon. Though
the confirmation came later, the data from the mission marked a new beginning for India in space research. ISRO’s achievement gave India respect on the global science map.
Born…. 1957 – Dimple Kapadia, actress. She was launched by Raj Kapoor at age 16, playing the title role in his teen romance against Raj Kapoor’s son Rishi Kapoor (Chintoo) Bobby (1973). RIP…. 632 – Mohammed, an Arab religious, social, and political leader and the founder of the religion of Islam
dies (according to traditional belief). His advices and edicts are collected in Koran, their religious book.
