1803 – East India Comapny captured Dehli, Agra and Bharooch.
1906 – The All India Muslim League was founded in Dacca by a group of big landlords which included Aga Khan III, The Nawab of Dacca and Nawab Mohsin-ul-Mulk-Salimullah. They supported the Partition of Bengal and called for separate Muslim electorates and other safeguard for Muslims (pic credit-Britannica).
1930 – First photograph showing the curvature of the Earth was taken.
1943 – Subhash Chandra Bose raises the flag of Indian independence at Port Blair.
1947 – India informs Pakistan and other dominion representatives that it has decided to refer the Kashmir issue to the Security Council under Article 35 of the United Nations Charter.
1949 – India recognises People’s Republic of China.
1959 – The first U.S. ballistic missile submarine, the nuclear-powered U.S.S. George Washington, was commissioned.
2006 – Saddam Hussein is hanged in Baghdad.
2016- Last day Indians are able to deposit in banks 500 and 1,000 rupee notes which were scrapped only 50 days earlier in an anti-corruption measure.

1884- Hideki Tojo. Japanese General who fought the Chinese aggression and US, Allies forces
in WWII 1941-44 brilliantly, also served as Prime Minister.
1956 – Sheryl Lee Ralph. American actress. Known for roles of Dreamgirls in Broadway, The Distinguished, TV serials It’s A Living, Monisha, The Fabulous Four etc.
1865 – Rudyard Kipling, English litterateur and author, born in Bombay.
1968 – Sabir Bhatia, is an Indian entrepreneur who founded the webmail company Hotmail.com. He sold it to Microsoft Gmail.com and other followed later.
1975 – Eldrick Tont ‘Tiger’ Woods, golfer (16 Majors and 74 PGA wins).

1971 – Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai; he was the father of the Indian space programme. He became chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (May 1966).
1975- Dushyant Kumar (Tyagi). Popular Hindi, Urdu poet who is famous during 20th century for Patriotic poems, ghazals and writings. collerctyions likle Saaye Mein Dhoop, Masnn ki Kaun Sune etc.
