1893 – New Zealand becoming the first country to grant women the right to vote.
1950 – U. N. General Assembly rejects Indian-Soviet proposal to admit Communist China to UN Security Council. In fact, India was offered UNSC membership by with Veto Power as P-5 group, by USA and USSR but our Prime Minister JL Nehru rejected the offer and pressed for Communist China as member of P-5 in Uited Nations in its place. India was then offered 6th position, but was declined by PM Nehru.
1965 – Chinese government extends ultimatum to India to dismantle forts within four days in China.
2000 – Karnam Malleswari becomes the first Indian woman to win an Olympic Bronze Medal at the Sydney Olympics. She lifted 110 kg in Snatch and 130 kg in Clean & Jerk. She was the only Indian medalist in 2000 Olympics. She had earlier won Asian and Commonwealth medals too. She was awarded Padma Shri, Arjuna and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Puruskar.
2014 – Crowds line up at retailers across the U.S. as the Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are offered for sale; buyers are seeking to be some of the first to own the devices, which may be shipped as late as November for those who pre-ordered online.
2019 – North America has lost 3 billion birds (29%) since 1970 according to analysis published in “Science”.
2022 – Scientists discover the site of the Amazon’s tallest tree, an angelim vermelho, which is 290 ft tall and 32 ft wide trunk, in Iratapuru River Nature Reserve, northern Brazil. Later more trees were discovered in other jungles, the tallest being Hyperion, Coast Redwood (360 ft, 16 ft wide trunk) near California.

le. It has franchises in many countries world over.
1933 – General Sunit Francis Rodrigues, former Indian Army Chief from 1990 to 1993. He was later appointed Governor of Punjab 2004-10.
1958 – Lucky Ali (Maqsood Muhammed Ali) , famous singer son of popular comedian actor, director, producer Mehmood. He became famous with a song in film Sholey and albums Suno, Sifr, Aks etc.
1965 – Sunita Williams. Ohio, America born Astronaught to NRI family. Went on 3 Space missions by NASA. She did 9 spacewalkls during her journies into space.
1976 – Isha Koppikar, model, for Coke, La O’real, Rexona, Camay watches etc. Bollywood actor who worked in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Kannada films viz., Ek Tha Dil, Ek Thi Dhadkan, Kadhai Kavidhai, Surya Vamsha, Fiza, Rahul, Pyar Ishq Aur Mohabbat Company, Dil Ka Rishta etc. She won Filmfare South on Debut in 1997 and Miss Talent Crown in Miss India Contest 1995.
1984 – Kavya Madhavan, popular Malayalam actress. Started as a child artist in 1991 and went on to play lead roles in South films with Dilip, Mohanlal, Manmoothy and other winning several Filmfare South and other Kerala, Tamil Nadu state awards.,
You may have known…. India’s net irrigated area grew from approximately 22.6 million hectares in 1951 to about 71.6 million hectares by 2018-19, representing a significant increase from its potential of 90 million hectares in 1995.
