1967 – Golda Meir, was elected firdst lady Prime Minister of Israel.

Born…. 1955 – Anupam Kher, veteran Bollywood actor, who plays mostly character and comic roles. He has acted in about 540  films over a  span  of  four  decades.  Films like Saransh,  Khosla Ka Ghosla, Rang De Basanti,  Silver Lining Playbook,  Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,  The Accidental Prime Minister, A Wednesday, Saudagar, Lamhe, Kashmir Files   are some of his  notable films  he’s acted, directed or producedHe has won 2 National  Film awards, 8 Filmfare and   several others. RIP…… 1952 – Paramahansa Yogananda, – Indian American monk, spiritual guru who preached  meditation and Kriya Yoga . Established his yoga institute Self-Realisation Fellowship Yogoda Satsanga Society of India. He wrote Autobiography of a Yogi, God Talks With  Arjuna,  The Second Coming of Christ, Bhagvad Gita etc.  He was the first Indian Guru to be hosted in White House in 1927.

1961 – Govind Ballabh Pant, freedom fighter, politician. He  served eight years as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Was appointed 2nd Home Minister after Sardar Patel’s death in  Jan. 1955. He was bestowed with Bharat Ratna in 1959.

Titbits….  1908 – Cincinnati Mayor Mark Breith stood before city council and announced, “women are not physically fit to operate automobiles”.

You may have known…. Shampoo was invented in India, not the commercial liquid ones but the method by use of herbs. The word ‘shampoo’ itself has been derived from the Sanskrit word champu, which means to massage.
