1965 – Beginning of the Indo-Pakistani War. (It was a culmination of skirmishes that took place between April 1965 and September 1965 between Pakistan and India. The conflict began following Pakistan’s Operation Gibraltar, which was designed to infiltrate forces into Jammu and Kashmir to precipitate an insurgency against Indian rule. India retaliated by launching a full-scale military attack on West Pakistan. The seventeen-day war witnessed the largest engagement of armored vehicles and the largest tank battle since World War II). Many of America build Patten tanks were blasted by Indian army.

1999 – Vyjayanthimala Bali, former Congress (I) MP, joins the BJP. She is the legendary Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu actress, known for films like Devdas, Sangam, Naya Daur, Ganga Jamuna, Madhumati etc. and a proficient Bharatnatyam dancer.

Born…. 1889 – Sarat Chandra Bose, freedom fighter, journalist and leader. Elder brother of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, he was also Member of AICC from 1936-47 and Member Interim Govt. of India1946-47. He led Netaji’s Forward Block and Socialist Repulican Party later. Bose died on Feb. 20, 1950 at a young age of 60.
1929 – Yash Johar, popular and successful film producer, director known for films Agneepath, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kal Ho Na Ho, etc. under his production house Dharma Productions. His son Karan Johar is a well-knkown journalist, TV show ‘Koffee With Karan’ presenter.
1949 – Rakesh Roshan, veteran film actor and producer/director is the son of famous musician Roshan known for ever-green tunes of Devar, Barsaat Ki Raat, Aarti, Chitralekha etc.. Rakesh Roshan acted in films like Khudgarz, Khoon Bhari Maang, Kishan Kanhaiya, Khoobsoorat, Ankhon Ankhon Mein, Karan-Arjun, Kaamchor etc. He lanched his son Hrithik thru’ Kaho Na Pyaar Hai which was a grand success for exotic story, music and locations. Later Koi Mil Gaya and Krish series. He has won several National Film, Filmfare and IIFA, Zee Cine awards etc.
RIP…. 1972 – Allauddin Khan, famous Sarod player.His disciples include Pt. Ravi Shankar, son Ali Akbar Khan, Panna Lal Ghosh and many more. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan, Sangeet Natak Akademy Fellowship.
