1962 – National Defence Council established.

1979 – 1979 – Ayatollah Khomeini takes over in Iran.

2000 – Richa Mishra creates a national record in the women’s 400m individual  medley in 5.15.28sec in the 55th Senior National Aquatic championship in Calcutta.

2016 – Indian government declares levels of air pollution in Delhi an emergency situation, closing schools and construction sites.

Born…. 1936 – Major HPS Ahluwalia, famous mountaineer, adventurist, author and social worker. He worked with Ordnance factories and was a  member of the Indian Mountaineering Expedition that scaled Mount Everest on  May 29, 1965. Later he was injured severly in the  Spine  during 1965  Indo Pak War and had to  use a wheel chair for life. He then set up  Spinal Injuries Centre  in Delhi  and was Chairman until lifetime. He was associated with several expeditions and  organisations  treating   disabilities  suffered by mountaineers. He wrote books on the subject and was awarded Padma Bhushan and several other accolades.

1937 – Yashwant Sinha. Former IAS officer, bureaucrat and Union  Minioster for External Affairs, Finance during PM  Chandra Shekhar and PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govts.  he was honoured by French Govt. with Officer de Las Legion award in 2015. He fell out with BJP in 2018 and fought Presidential election in 2022 unsuccessfully representing Opposition led by Trinamool Congress.

1956 – Jitendra Singh.  Union Minister for Scvience and Technology. also Minister for earth Sciences. He has  represented Udhampur (J&K)  in the Lok Sabha sincev 2014.

1988 – Emme Jean Stone. British/US actor. Known for roles in Easy A, The Amazizing Spiderman, La La Land, Cruella, Won 2 Academy awards.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                RIP…. 1985 – Sanjeev Kumar, actor.  Sanjeev Kumar,  (Haribhai Jariwala), very talented and  versatile Bollywood actor. He acted in Koshish, Parichay, Trishul, Devta,  Satyajit Ray’s  classic film  Shatranj Ke Khiladi,  Khilona, Naya Din Nayi Raat, Pati Patni Aur Voh, Ram Tere Kitne Naam,  Aandhi, Sholey,  Dastak, Mausam  etc. He was awarded 2Nationmal Awards, 4 Filmfare awards and several other honors.  (pic credit-Prime Vodeo)                                                                       You may have known…. India’s armed forces operate approximately 80 dedicated attack helicopters with 156 more on order for both the Army and Air Force. Pakistan’s military currently operates approximately 57 attack helicopters. Qualitatively, India has modern helicopters such as Apache and Prachand, whereas Pakistan has  an aging fleet.
