Tiger strikes in Gadchiroli, kills one more woman

Gadchiroli/Nagpur, Nov 24 (UNI) The man-eater tiger of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli killed one more woman in the nearby forest in the district, sources said here on Wednesday .
According to the sources, victim Indira Atram (60) was attacked and killed by the tiger in Churchura village of Porla forest range under Armori tehsil in Gadchiroli district on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place when Indira Atram had gone to a nearby forest along with other women of the village to collect fodder for cattle.
When the women were cutting grass, the big cat attacked Atram and dragged her into the forest. Other women accompanying her started shouting and somehow managed to bring her out of the forest. But Atram succumbed to her injuries.
On getting information, forest officials reached the spot and after conducting panchanama, Indira’s body was sent for autopsy .
Further investigation was underway, sources added.
This is the 18th incident of tiger attack in the district in the last three months.
The forest department is patrolling and has also put up cages at strategic locations but the tiger remains elusive.
