Kandahar, (Afghanistan), Sep 14 (UNI) Thousands of residents of Firqa (Old Army Division) in Kandahar held a protest march in Kandahar City on Tuesday to protest the Taliban’s eviction notice to them.
Residents of the Firqa (Division), numbering in thousands, said they have been ordered to leave their homes, within three days, Asvaka news reported.
Protesters said they have been told they can not take any household items with them.
They have appealed to the Kandahar Governor to intervene in the matter.
Many people had built homes on government land in Firqa (Old Army Division) Area between the 1st and 13th District in the last three-four decades and were living there.
Some have alleged that the Taliban are settling their own people in their houses after evicting them.
Residents say they are struggling financially and can’t even afford food.
