DHARAMSHALA: The political battle between the ruling party and the opposition in Himachal Pradesh is steadily intensifying. Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur launched a scathing attack on the government in the Assembly premises today. He said that the state is beset by crises from all sides, but the Congress government is busy celebrating. He also expressed displeasure over the administrative restrictions on the “Three Years of System Collapse – Change the Corrupt Government” rally scheduled for December 4th at the Zorawar Stadium in Dharamshala. Meanwhile, during an event in Dharamshala, the Chief Minister attempted to directly counter the opposition by chanting “Radhe-Radhe” from the stage. Speaking to the media in the Assembly premises, Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur said that Himachal is grappling with a disaster on one hand, an economic crisis on the other, and a breakdown in law and order on the other. At a time like this, thegovernment is talking about celebratory events while the people are suffering. He said that the BJP has consistently raised public issues, and now the theme for the December 4 rally has been set as “Three years of system collapse—change the corrupt government.” Jairam Thakur also alleged that the government has exceeded all limits in taking loans and that a “naked dance” of law and order is going on in Una. Jairam Thakur alleged that the administration was informed in time about the rally’s preparations, and all regulations were followed, but now the government is trying to change the rally venue. Until three days ago, everything was fine, but suddenly, under pressure, an attempt was made to shift the event to the Police Ground, Dharamshala. He said that the government has cheated the unemployed and employees—no guarantees were fulfilled. The campaign against drugs is not a one-day ritual, but a rigorous and long-term one. He also said that the Chief Minister should exercise sensitivity and restraint when commenting on religious sentiments. The government needs to be sensitive to the crisis the state is facing today. However, the situation is such that the public is suffering, and the Congress government is talking about celebrating. Our rally on December 4th has been planned in full accordance with the rules. We have clearly told the administration that the program will take place at the designated venue and will not be changed. The countdown to the government has begun; the people are in a mood for change, and we will hold our rally democratically under any circumstances. There is complete chaos and confusion within the Congress party at this time. In such a situation, it will not be easy for the newly appointed president to assume responsibility. When the party itself is directionless and internally divided, what can the president do? All avenues for the Congress are now closed—and this time, public trust has diminished so much that the government will simply fit into an Alto.
