Thai-Chinese air force exercises launched at Udon air base
Bangkok: The Falcon Strike joint exercises of the air forces of Thailand and China began at the Thai air force base Udon in the northeastern region of Udon Thani, Thai state broadcaster TV5 reported on Monday.
The opening ceremony was held on Sunday. Thai Air Vice Marshal Wachirapon Muangnoi said that the exercises are aimed at strengthening the friendship between the Thai and Chinese air forces and improving their interaction and cooperation.
Fighter aircraft, fighter-bombers, and early warning aircraft take part in the exercises to practice coordination in the deployment of joint air groups and in carrying out missions to support ground forces.
The drills are held for the fifth time. For the first time, the exercises took place in 2015 but during the COVID-19 pandemic they were canceled for two years in a row. The Falcon Strike 2022 will last until August 25. (UNI/SPUTNIK)
